Tea house trekking in Nepal
Tea house trek is the most independent way of adventurous trip in Nepal. A tea-house is a local run guest house, but standards vary enormously. In popular areas tea houses are more like hotels, with hot water, Western food and private rooms, nice toilets and sweat dining rooms whereas in more remote areas, they are far simpler and more authentically Nepali. Tea-house trekking is less expensive than camping, and is suitable for small groups. The most popular way to trek in Nepal for both Nepalese and Westerners is to travel from teahouse to teahouse. Hotel accommodation is most readily available in the main trails of the Everest, Langtang, Helambu and the Annapurna regions. In these areas you can operate with a bare minimum of equipment and rely on teahouses for food and shelter. The tea houses on the trail have developed that has electricity and they are modest, but clean accommodation offering foam mattresses in single & twin sharing rooms. In peak trekking season sometime somewhere, only we use dormitory style of accommodation. This kind of trek is relatively cheaper and a great way to connect and experience with some of the local cultures. The adventure tourists, however, are willing to camping trek.
