MEDICAL TREK

2011 PROJECT

Waiting the turn

Located in the Rasuwa District only 100 km north from Kathmandu it can still take 7 or more hours to reach kalikasthan by road. As we’d first trekked from near Kalikasthan to Jibajibe which is my (Hari) village, conducted a health camp and then walked to Yarsa a poorest   and    uneducated Tamang's villages.

We’d come this way in part because we knew there was a Government health post here we wanted to check out. Our long-range plan for health care in Rasuwa includes trying to add resources to that health Post.

In  Yarsa   village  nearly  9000 people live around but  there are only a government health post and just two primary schools  which do not give the sufficient health and   educational support to these people. It is completely affected by landslide and low fertile land escape and the people are100% illiterate who are seasonally depends on mountaineering / trekking portering job as their  a major   income sourse.

Literacy rate for women in Nepal is 35% with many areas of the country posting rates significantly lower. The Rasuwa District where female literacy rate is only 13 %, 27% of children complete their primary school education.

Only 1 in 50 births is attended by trained health personnel, Arranged marriages are still common. Often the brides are quite young, as many as 80% of children are Malnourished at some stage in their development. Only 25% of girls enroll in school (UNICEF report 2010 Rasuwa district)

We organizes and leads any treks throughout Nepal while our medical trips
Continue to be the most popular (and they are not just for medically trained people by the way) we can also arrange for a number of popular destinations in Nepal.

In Nepal, we offer trekking on the Tamang Heritage Trail, Langtang, Gossaikund, Anapurna,Everest  region and obviously  many more. For more information, visit our web site www.Highhimalayantreks.com. If the trip you’d like to take isn’t listed just drop us an e-mail at info@highhimalayantreks.com or guidehari@gmail.com and help the most vulnerable Nepali mountainous people of the world to expand and support educational opportunities for women and girls.

We promote local ownership to ensure that programs respect local culture and values and are sustained over the long-term. We fulfill our mission by supporting local education through the development and/or renovation of schools, the hiring and housing of teachers, the provision of scholarships and long-term funding, and by working closely with local.

May you imagine that we have medical access?
